Adventure Afternoons

We like our volunteers to have fun so during your stay will have the opportunity to select from the following adventures -

The Ardèche is an area rich with history and heritage. When we traveling this glorious countryside, we see the present meet the past! At times we take paths used by shepherds to guide their flocks to summer pastures, or that mule drivers trod carrying wine, oil, and wheat. The Ardèche is beautiful, with well-preserved stretches of wild terrain and ever-changing landscapes. Spring is the season to discover the region in all its splendor, when yellow broom covers the Tanargue; or in autumn, when the chestnuts change color and the mushrooms poke their noses out from under the fallen yellow leaves.

Canoeing and kayaking in famous the Gorges de l`Ardèche.

This protected site "classé réserve naturelle" is only accessible by boat or on foot and offers you unforgettable beauty....After the Pont d'Arc, a 60 m high natural rock arch, the river Ardèche carves its path through deep gorges enclosed by 300 m cliffs and forms meanders punctuated by rapids. Thirty kms of wilderness following the stream wait to be discovered.

Horse riding

You will enjoy the pleasure of riding in beautiful parks, forests, hills and vinyard enjoying the famous views of the Ardeche.....A Magical Experience !

Hiking

Facing the Alps across the broad valley of the Rhone lies a walker’s paradise of hills where the Ardeche, Loire and Haute Loire departments meet. This is a watershed for some of France’s great rivers, a land of steep terraced slopes, hidden valleys and tumbling streams, largely absent from the guidebooks but easily discovered while hiking. Massive ruined farmhouses seem to have grown from the landscape, and the bleat of goats and call of a wild bird are often the only sounds you will hear.

Climbing, Speleology, Canyoning, Caving

These sports are the favourite activities of those who want to surpass themselves and who are fond of more extreme adventures. Climbing, speleology, canyoning remain sports where beginners also will find a true pleasure. Even though climbing is a risky sport, it can be practiced safely as soon as you call on abilities available on Ardèche climbing areas.

Climbing areas of Ardèche are many and always in the middle of marvellous landscapes.

........improve your way of climbing in the beautifull Ardêche sight............

.......move down an entrenched river, changing levels frequently, jumping, rappelling, sliding and swimming in water ......

..........discover a magical and strange world of rocks carved by hundred years of dripping..........

Abseiling, jumping and sliding down rock faces is what canyoning is all about.
• The best way to start is to take a half or full day course near Aubenas or elsewhere with prior scheduling.

If you have the skill level required, try your hand in the world's great spots in France and abroad.

Try Caving in a cave with a huge variety of landscapes: a shaft, wide galleries, opposing passages and a siphon.

Ardèche, but especially the Alps and the Pyrenees have marvelous routes and more particularly traverses with an entry up the mountain and a exit lower down. After appropriate training, you will be able to approach high level caving in shafts off the beaten track

High Ropes & Forest adventures

Spot created by a team of tree climbers and forestry workers, professional of trees, eager to make you share the challenges they have to face every day when working, fun and nature lovers.

Be sure to feel pleasure and new sensations in the greatest safety. The whole activity is supervised by professionals (State certificates) who help you to kit and give advice all along the different trails.

But you are the hero ! And you can move all by yourself from tree to tree for three hours. To everyone his (her) own rhythm and dose of adrenalin.

Five trails are proposed with growing difficulties. You will surpass by using the numerous methods of moving : going through creepers, Tarzan’s jump, swinging footbridge, zip-ways, Nepal bridge, ...

You will confront yourself with all the challenges of monkays and birds in exceptional forest surroundings.

River Swims

Explore medieval towns and markets

Situated just west of the Rhône between Lyon and Avignon, the twisting valleys of the département of the Ardèche are striking in their beauty. Beside the Rhône, the vestiges of dramatic medieval castles look down on vineyards where some of the very finest southern French wines are produced. Consider visiting the picturesque Rhône-side towns of Tournon, Bourg-St-Andéol and Viviers, all strongly marked by religion. Far back in Roman times, Viviers was capital of the Ardèche region, which is therefore also sometimes known as the Vivarais. Continuing west from the Rhône, the terrain becomes much more tortured. Spectacular gorges with rushing torrents are a speciality across the département.
